Japan Attraction: Fushimi Inari Shrine
Fushimi Inari Shrine is a great attraction for its famous thousands of distinct red torii gates that makes it a must-visit in Kyoto. Also, a good day hiking spot from the base of the mountain to the top.
"Inari" means God of rice. With this in mind, businesses donate red torii gates to the God of rice in hopes of receiving good fortune. Since this is a free attraction, I recommend visiting during early mornings around 8am to beat the rush and get plenty of photos without crowds in the background.
When you are done with your hike, there are available food stalls to satisfy your stomach! Here's what was available when we visited the food stalls: roasted yams, roasted chestnuts, takoyaki, grilled seafood, etc.
When you visit early, stop by the 7-Eleven across the street from the shrine and enjoy a hot pizza bao or pork bao for breakfast!
