Dirty Habit in Union Square, San Francisco
Dirty Habit, San Francisco’s alluring bar and restaurant known for one of the City’s largest selections of small-batch whisky and its rare outdoor patio, unveils new seasonal-forward menus under the helm of Executive Chef Thomas Weibull and Bar Manager Raul Ayala. The duo have introduced revived food and beverage offerings at the edgy, noir-inspired destination, featuring new interpretations of Dirty Habit’s inventive small plates and brown spirit cocktails.
Under Weibull’s direction, the menu features Asian-influenced flavors reminiscent of his Filipino background, with a touch of whimsy and nostalgia culled from favorite childhood dishes while growing up in Sweden. Reflective of this eclectic vision is a new Beef Tongue dish prepared with grilled wagyu beef tongue, miso onion puree, trumpet mushrooms and pickled mustard seeds. Another is Dungeness Crab Dumplings with smoked ham hock and black bean. Other new menu items include Seared Scallops with sunchoke chipsand fine herb oil, Grilled Longaniza with java rice and banana ketchup, Seared Mt. Lassen Trout Thai Salad, and Sweet Potato Gnocchi with black trumpet mushrooms and burgundy truffle.
With Bar Manager Raul Ayala spearheading the beverage menu, Dirty Habit’s pulsing bar scene is revived with more than a dozen new cocktails. Reflecting his style for inventive yet composed creations and utilizing Asiatic influences and seasonal ingredients, new items include the Tom Yum Sour (Spring44 Gin, Tamarind Syrup, Lime and Aquafaba), Bonzai (Suntory Whisky Toki, Orgeat with Matcha, Citrus), Mad Men (James E. Pepper Rye, Amontillado Sherry, Maple Syrup and Bitters), Smoked Bohemian (Bowmore Whisky, Fort Point Manzanita Beer Reduction, Zucca Amaro and Orange Bitters), and DH Style Coffee (Plantation Dark Rum, Kahlua, Sicilian Chestnut Honey, Mole Bitters and Heavy Cream), among many others.
