The Perfect Weekend BBQ with Oysters from Tomales Bay Oyster Company
Established in 1909, Tomales Bay Oyster Company is California’s oldest continuously run shellfish farm. I love driving up to enjoy the sun and fresh oysters with my friends and family. This past Saturday, we left San Francisco a little after 7:30am and got to Tomales right at 9:00am when they opened. Great timing right? Usually, we hang out at the picnic tables and BBQ on-site but sadly they have been closed since October 17th, 2015. Apparently, Marin County Code Enforcement requires that they remove the picnic tables and BBQ grills. According to their website, they are working on getting the permit back. To further this process along, I have signed the petition (as well as many others) to ask Marin County to allow the usage of picnic tables and grills.
For anyone who is interested in supporting Tomalaes, click here for the petition. Don't let them take away a great oyster farm!
However, this didn't stop us from enjoying their oysters. We brought it back to a friend's house to BBQ along with corn, veggie kebabs, smoked pork ribs, smoked brisket, etc.
Price Range: $15 - $75
Highlight: Kumamoto oysters for eating raw and medium oysters for BBQing! ❤
