Travel Eats: Via Gelato in Hawaii
Via Gelato‘s owner, Melissa Bow, grew up in Hawaii but left to live in New York City. She got to travel, taste the world and learned to make gelato by eating the best in NYC and Italy. She missed Hawaii and decided to move back and create a treat with local flavors and ingredients while using her experiences in New York to make it special.
Hawaii has amazing flowers and produce available at different times all throughout the year. Each month there are new flavors to be savored at its peak.
Macadamia nut gelato tastes the best in Hawaii because the nuts came from the Big Island right next door. The lilikoi (passion fruit) can’t taste any brighter when it comes straight off the vine from Melissa’s garden. And then there is the unique diversity of Hawaii food that inspires their other specialty flavors like green tea haupia or an almond cookie transformed into a perfectly smooth scoop with its signature red dot.
Whatever you choose, each scoop is flavored with the love, sun and colors of our Islands.
Via Gelato also offers espresso and sandwiches!
When you walk into the shop, you will smell the sweet and sugary aroma of freshly made waffle cones…
Black sesame, green tea oreo, coffee…
