Travel Eats: Sing Cheong Yuan Bakery in Hawaii
How did we find Sing Cheong Yuan Bakery? We heard about them through Yelp and knew we had to try! This bakery is located in Chinatown and sells baked manapuas, half moons, pork hash, moon cakes, peanut candy, macadamia nut candy and many other Chinese pastries/goodies.
Manapua is the Hawaiian version of the Chinese cha siu bao (BBQ-pork-filled bun). Pork hash is the Hawaiian version of the Chinese shu mai (pork dumpling).
We ended up getting their famous baked manapuas, pork hash, egg tart, wife pastry and half moons. The manapua bread was so soft with just the right amount of their tasty cha siu filling. The bread to meat ratio was perfect!
I highly recommend this bakery the next time you are in Hawaii’s Chinatown.
