La Mar Cebichería Peruana: Indian Summer Happy Hour + Bloggers
This week, we were invited to La Mar for a 9 course meal paired with pisco sour and chicha morada on the waterfront. Being a big ceviche lover, I was so excited to attend. Cebiches (aka ceviche) is the national dish of Peru and theirs was briefly marinated in “leche de tigre”.
The view was absolutely amazing! Troy and I were so impressed with their scenic back patio view overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge.
We started off with their house made plantain chips with salsas de ajies, mingled and enjoyed the variety of delectables throughout dinner. The menu and cocktail tasting was fantastic. So tasty! Here’s what we had:
Course #1: Cebiche clásico – California Halibut in a classic leche de tigre with red onion, habanero, Peruvian corn and yam
Course #2: Cebiche nikei – Tuna, red onion, Japanese Cucumber, daikon, avocado, nori, and sesame in a tamarind leche de tigre
Course #3: Cebiche california – Salmon, shrimp, avocado and jalapeno leche de tigre
Course #4: Causa limeña – Dungeness Crab on top of a yellow potato causa with avocado purée, quail egg, cherry tomatoes, ají amarillo huancaína sauce and basil cilantro oil
Course #5: Empanada sampler – Shrimp, pollo, carne, vegetarian
Course #6: Anticucho pulpo – Grilled octopus skewers with anticuchera sauce, herbed mashed potatoes, sautéed choclo, Peruvian botija olive aioli, finished with chalaca chimichurri
Course #7: Lomo saltado – Peruvian style beef tenderloin, tomatoes, cilantro, garlic, soy, oyster sauce
Course #8: Tres Leches
Course #9: Raspberry sorbet with crème fraîche
Cocktail: Pisco sour – Pisco quebranta (peruvian brandy), lime juice, simple syrup, dash of egg white and a drop
Non-Alcoholic: Chicha morada – Sweet Peruvian beverage made from purple corn, a variant of Zea mays native to the Mesoamerica and spices
Everything was amazing! We had a blast, thanks for inviting us Wagstaff Worldwide.
