How to Use Leftover Rice
It has been such a long time since we last made fried rice. The reason is because we have been trying to cut out simple carbs to eat more protein and veggies whenever we cook at home. (On the weekends, it’s a different story! )
Don’t get me wrong, I love white rice but since we have been eating healthier when we are at home we usually go for brown rice. We find it more nutritious, chewier and nuttier than white rice! Lately, we have been loving Planet Rice. It’s basically a healthier rice that is non-GMO, sprouted so it’s richer in nutrients, whole grain and full of flavor. Planet Rice has three options: California Blonde, Quinoa Power and Brown Rice.
California Blonde: Love white rice? This rice has the same nutrients as brown rice but with white rice flavor. The texture is almost as soft and fluffy as white rice. Definitely a great option for someone transitioning from white to brown rice.
Quinoa Power: Love quinoa? Need extra fiber? Need extra protein? This rice is mixed with 75% sprouted brown rice and 25% red, white and black quinoa.
Brown Rice: This rice is slightly sweeter and nuttier than traditional brown rice.
We had leftover California Blonde rice the night before and wanted to use up the rice so we decided to make fried rice! Our recipe this week is Shrimp Garlic Fried Rice … If you end up making more than enough, it is also a great leftover. Fry up an over easy egg and transfer it on top of the fried rice. Voila!
